A funeral service for William R. “Bill” Marsh, 94, of Independence, Mo., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Everlasting Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Day, 14480 E. 42nd St. S., Independence. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial, Gardens, Grain Valley, Mo.

Mr. Marsh died Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, in Independence.

He was born in Cresco, Iowa, the son of William A. and Marietta Marsh.

He attended the University of Missouri – Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army, on active duty from the fall of 1950 to March of 1953, and reserves from 1953 to 1957.

He and his wife, Patricia, were married Sept. 17, 1950. She preceded him in death.

He taught at North Scott High School as the vocational agriculture instructor and FFA advisor from 1965-1972. He taught many other places, drove OTR trucks, and was an OTR instructor in Kansas City.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, traveling, and camping.

Survivors include his daughters, Ardyce (Marsh) Nordeen and Margaret Marsh; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Marsh; and a special friend, Vicki West of Buckner, Mo.

In addition to his parents and wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by a son, James (Jim); and two sisters, Kathryn and Helen.
