Obituary: Danae Martin

Danae L. Martin, age 39, a woman of boundless love, strength, and courage, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 noon – 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Walcott American Legion, with food, memories and stories provided.  A time of sharing will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the legion.  Burial of her cremated remains will take place in Durant Cemetery.  In honor of Danae’s memory and her unwavering love for Riley, memorials may be made to the family of Danae Martin, which will be directed to a trust fund for Riley’s education.

Danae was born on May 26, 1985, in Moline.  She was a proud graduate of Western with a bachelor’s degree in business.  Danae brought dedication and precision to her role at MidAmerican Energy as a drafter. Her professional accomplishments were a testament to her hard work and determination.

Danae’s joy was found in simple yet profound moments. She loved spending time with Riley, whether they were exploring the wonders of cooking together, watching their favorite cooking shows, or creating beautiful crafts. Her love of plants brought life to her garden, and she cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Florida’s sun-kissed beaches were her sanctuary, a place where she felt truly at peace.  Danae’s vibrant spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Her legacy is carried forward by her beloved daughter, Riley Martin, who was the light of her life; her devoted parents, Dane and Ruth (Klendworth) Hazen; her caring brother, Ryan Hazen, and his wife, Christy Hazen; her loving sister, Jackie Boyd, and her husband, Terrell Boyd; her nephews, Curtis, Elijah, Samuel, Joseph and Isaiah Boyd; her niece, Sophia Boyd; and her faithful boyfriend, Chad Arp. Danae also shared a special bond with Elaine Arp, whom she considered a second mom.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
