Patricia L. Burton, 88, a resident of Eldridge, left this world to join her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.  She was at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Her funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22, at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.  Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org).

Pat lived a life of faith, love and adventure.  She was born in Moline, the daughter of Willie A. and Elsie G. (Hensley) Stout and was a 1954 graduate of Moline High School.  On Sep. 8, 1954, at the age of 18, she married the love of her life, Bill R. Burton, in Moline.  They were married for almost 70 years, and together lived a life that many could only dream of.

Pat was passionate about many things, with God and family at the top of this list.  She was formerly an active member of the Moline Gospel Temple, where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years.  She was an avid reader and loved reading the Word.  She was a military wife, a homemaker and she even worked at her family grocery store in Eldridge.  She loved to travel and make memories with her family and close friends.  From taking annual camping trips with her husband, kids, and grandkids while traveling across the country, to taking multiple cruises with her husband. She was able to see so many beautiful places and experience so many adventures on those trips.  She loved being at the family cabin, just outside of Maquoketa, where she would spend the majority of her time fishing.  She also enjoyed to crochet and had an exquisite collection of porcelain dolls.  She created a strong legacy that may be seen in her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, that will live on for many generations to come.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband of nearly 70 years, Bill; her daughters, Diana (Donavon) Wood of Moline, and Roberta (Dennis) Williams of Clinton; her son, William (Teresa) Burton of Peachtree City, Ga.; her grandchildren, Jason, Joseph, Stephen, Leonna, Ryan, Christopher, Sarah and Blake; and also, Mackenzie and Rebecca; 18 great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Daniel McElhiney of Bettendorf.

Pat was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria McElhiney; and her brother, Billy Joe Stout.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their wonderful care shown to Patricia and the family during her illness.
