Stew was born on Feb. 21, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Ruth (Cavanagh) and George LeBlanc. Stew went on to join the U.S. Navy in 1963, where he proudly served on the USS Barracuda submarine. Following his service, he moved to Iowa to attend Parsons College. While there, he met and fell in love with Ute Rabong. In April of 1968, they joined each other in married union and would go on to spend over 55 years together.
While attending Parsons, Stew also fell in love with the landscape of Iowa. He became an avid outdoorsman. Stew especially enjoyed hunting upland birds with his beloved Gordon Setters, playing golf, and fishing for trout. For many years, he rode in RAGBRAI, where he made many memories and simply enjoyed the wind on his back. May the wind be at his back forevermore.
Those left to carry on Stew’s love include his wife, Ute LeBlanc; daughter, Michelle (Steve Wiseman) LeBlanc; grandson, Grant Wiseman; and brother, Steve (Lynne) LeBlanc.
Stew was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Larry LeBlanc.
