Jay and Jean (Hammes) Semsch are celebrating 50 years together on Nov. 17. They were married in Jean’s hometown of Richland, Iowa, at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church.
Jay was a garage door installer for several years and maintenance supervisor at Durant School, Durant. Jean was a registered nurse for 47 years at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport and Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
They are the parents of Jessica (Austin) Williams of Stockton, and Jill (Derek) Trobaugh of Johnston.
Their grandchildren are Nolan Williams, Nevin Williams, Mara Trobaugh and Grant Trobaugh.
A trip to San Diego was taken to celebrate the milestone. Jay took basic training in the San Diego area and from there to Guam, (flew in and out of Viet Nam.) He returned to San Diego to complete his service time. He served in the Navy from 1968-1972.
