Mary Jeannette Doran was born April 26, 1941, in Danbury, Conn., her parents being John C. Doran and Eleanor Kane.  She has two brothers, John and Thomas.  She received her bachelor of arts degree from University of San Diego.  After two years of teaching in grammar school in Boston, Mass., she entered the Carmelite Monastery in Boston on June 29, 1965.  She made her profession of vows on Sept. 15, 1967.   In 1966, she was part of a new Carmelite foundation in Dartmouth Mass., that was made from Boston.  Subsequently, that monastery closed, and she found her way to Eldridge Carmel in Iowa.

When coming to Iowa, she developed her talent for art and iconography.  Her first and only love was for God and for the life around her in people, plants, flowers and beauty.  Her love for people was extraordinary. She was always very kind and welcoming to people she met.  She had many friends in many places and constantly prayed for and with them.

She was preceded in death by her brother John, and her parents John and Eleanor.

She will be missed by her community, by her friends, her brother Thomas and wife Darsha and niece Eleanor.   All will miss her love, her laughter and goodness.
