Obituary: Sidney Clark

Sidney A. Clark, 77, Merrillville, Ind., died Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at home, with his loving wife by his side.

A military service was held in Indiana on Aug. 26. Cremation rites were accorded, as he wished.

He was born March 26, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of John and Naomi (Nicewanner) Clark. He was a graduate of North Scott High School with the Class of 1967.

He and his wife, Virginia, were married March 13, 2005, on a cruise ship.

He was in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and Germany. He earned the Army Bronze Star medal.

He was a truck driver for Roadway Express/YRC Freight, retiring in 2021.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; a son, John W. (Bre) Clark, and Brody and Addison of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Amanda (Nick) Fontenot, and Lauren and Abby of Louisiana; a stepdaughter, Kristie Dawn-Paul Diaz (Jared Morris), Cody Dias, Kayla Morris, Sophia Morris and Alyssa Morris of Florida; and his siblings, Pamela Otto of Davenport, Steve (Vicky) Clark of Donahue, and Quentin Clark of Grand Mound.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Naomi Clark, and a brother, James J. Clark.
