Obituary: Barbara Paaske

Barbara J. “Ma” Paaske, 91, of Eldridge, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at her home.          

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.  Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

She was born in Long Grove on June 17, 1933, the daughter of James and Lucille (Robertson) Pollock.  On Nov. 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jackson H. “Jack” Paaske in Argo.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 2021.

Barbara owned and operated Barb’s Beauty Salon in Eldridge for many years and was a member of the Scott County Pioneer Decedents.

She was a devoted wife, mom and grandma who enjoyed going to Circa 21, loved traveling, attended stock car races in earlier years and treasured the times spent with her beloved family.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Shelly Howell and Brenda (David) Whitney; her grandchildren, Derek Hamilton, Ashly (Zeb) Hubner and Garrett Hamilton; her great-grandchildren, Liam Hamilton, Daxton Hamilton, Quinn Hubner, Reese Hubner and Brady Hubner; and her sister, Vere Pewe of Durant.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, June Pride and Virginia Mallicoat.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Haley and Lily and to her special friend, Sandy Ainslie.
