Edward H. Horstmann, 92, formerly of Dixon, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021. A family graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, in Dixon Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. Memorials may be made to Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.
Edward was born Oct. 11, 1928, to Friderich and Elisabeth (Meyer) Horstmann in Big Rock. On Aug. 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Betty J. Mixell in Davenport. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948. He was a life-long semi truck driver.
Edward was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty, daughters Christie Henzen, Sindie (Chuck) Harman, Lorrie (Howard) Hunt, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and sister Dorothy Burkhardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and son-in-law.
