Obituary: David Doerscher

David Wayne Doerscher, 66, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa, passed away on June 3, 2024, at his home.  He was born on May 16, 1958, in Davenport to Kenneth Wayne and Judith Kay Lepper Doerscher.  He graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge in 1976.  On May 25, 1985, he married Cindy Hanna in Bloomfield.  The couple had one daughter, Allison, and enjoyed 27 wonderful years of marriage before Cindy passed away on Nov. 1, 2012.

David farmed with his father-in-law, Rex Blackwell, for many years; raising livestock and crops; he loved being a farmer.  David enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, and driving around the county with Cindy.  He spent many hours attending school and sporting events for his grandchildren; they made him proud.  He was a member of the Mark Baptist Church in Davis County, Iowa, and served on the Fort Bloomfield Rodeo Committee for over 20 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Allison (Dustin) Gonterman of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Carter and Kaysen Gonterman; parents, Ken and Judy Doerscher of Bloomfield; brother, Brian (Jane) Doerscher of Bloomfield; nephew, Wayne Doerscher of Bloomfield; and father-in-law, Rex Blackwell of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Doerscher; mother-in-law, Carol Blackwell; and father-in-law, Dick Hanna.

David’s wish was to be cremated.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family, and online condolences may be left at www.waglerfuneralhome.com.
