What began with a single $500 scholarship 38 years ago has blossomed into a garden of community generosity, as the North Scott Educational Foundation has now officially given away more than $2 million in scholarship funds to North Scott graduates.

"Being able to award more than $2 million in scholarships to deserving North Scott students is not only a testament to the individuals who had the foresight to start the Foundation, but also to the generosity of a very giving community," said Scott Campbell, the Foundation's longest serving board member. "It’s truly hard to comprehend the number of students that have been touched by that generosity, and as Foundation board members, we consider it an honor to be the caretakers of endowments that now total well over $1.8 million."

The North Scott Education Foundation was established in 1986, with the primary purpose of awarding scholarships to deserving North Scott graduates. In its 38-year history, the Foundation has now awarded 1,439 scholarships, totaling $2,068,915.

This year, 110 scholarships were awarded, totaling $125,250. The Foundation awarded one new scholarship, the $500 Bill and Linda Tubbs Journalism Scholarship.

North Scott Educational Foundation board members include: Debbie Shannon (president), Tracy Lindaman (vice president), Seth Porter (treasurer) Susan Blaskovich (secretary), Scott Campbell (scholarship chairman), Leah Allen, Brad Carmody, Shelli Engelbrecht, Jay Johnson, Kathy Kilen, Mindy Leahy, Katie Pins, Butch Richlen, Judi Sarafin, and Julie Stark.
