Helen Stubbe, 98, of LeClaire, formerly of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5 (today), at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Helen was born on Dec. 9, 1927, the daughter of Christian and Jean (Kerr) Schumacher. She graduated from Davenport High School and continued her education at Iowa State Teacher’s College. On Oct. 8, 1949, she married Lavern H. “Dudy” Stubbe in DeWitt. Helen taught elementary school for several years. She later worked as an administrative assistant to the superintendent at Pleasant Valley School District. She retired in 1993 after over 40 years of service. Helen was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and crosswords. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Jacque (Raymond) Andrews of LeClaire; daughter-in-law, Linda Stubbe of Davenport; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob Overton) Stubbe, Christopher Stubbe, Anna (David) Heidenreich; and great-grandchildren, Miah Overton, Gavin and Paxton Heidenreich.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern; son, Douglas Stubbe; and siblings, Marge Shropshire and Dean Schumacher.
