Dec. 9, 1970: Harold Meggers of rural Eldridge won the Scott County corn yield contest with a yield of 167.21 bushels per acre. Wilbert Engelbrecht of rural Davenport topped the soybean yield contest, with a yield of 55.65 bushels per acre.
