Brus double anniversary to be celebrated Aug. 15

Jim and Joyce Brus and John and Fran Brus celebrate 65 years of marriage on Aug. 12.

They were married in a double wedding ceremony on Aug. 12, 1961, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport.

Both couples are retired farmers – like the fields they faithfully tended, their marriages flourished through sunshine and storms, blessed with love, faith, and enduring commitment.

Jim Brus not only retired as a farmer but retired from Liquid Grow, where he worked in Durant and Tipton.

Joyce (Hensen) Brus – a devoted homemaker during the farming years and remains committed today.  She also retired from the Davenport Clinic and ORA in Davenport.

They are the loving parents of Tamra of Cedar Rapids, Jody (Jeff) of Tempe, Ariz., Debra (Mike) of Chandler, Ariz., Laura (Pat) of Long Grove, and Jamie (Curt) of Tipton.

They have nine grandchildren and one heavenly grandson.

John Brus not only retired as a farmer but still hauls grain in the Morning Sun area.

Fran (Goethals) Brus – drove truck during the farming years and a devoted homemaker during the farming years and remains committed today.

They are the loving parents of Juanita (deceased), Michelle (Shane) of Morning Sun, and Cathy of Hanover Park, Ill.

They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Their families invite you to an Open House on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 1-4 p.m. at Bennett Park Shelter #1 in Bennett. Cake, lemonade and mints will be served. No gifts necessary; your presence is the loving gift.
