Edward was born on Dec. 5, 1940, the son of Fred and Ada (Logel) Reed in Muscatine. He graduated from Muscatine High School with the Class of 1958. Edward married Beverly Bicknese on Oct. 29, 1960, in Wilton. Beverly passed away on Jan. 11, 2025.
Edward was a hardworking and creative man whose presence brought both comfort and laughter to those around him. He devoted more than 30 years to John Deere, retiring in 2005. Some of Edward’s fondest memories were made on Canadian fishing trips with his work buddies. At home, he was known as the go-to problem solver — ingenious, patient, and always ready to take on a project. He shared a joyful life with his wife, Beverly, and together they embraced adventure. Their trips to Las Vegas were a favorite tradition, filled with excitement, laughter, and the hopeful thrill of “hitting it big.” Their partnership was one of love, fun, and unwavering companionship. Edward will be dearly missed by all who knew him, remembered for his kindness, his clever mind, his steady hands, and the light he brought into the lives of family and friends.
Edward will be lovingly remembered by two sons, Brian (Judy) Reed of Winchester, Tenn., and Brad (Tracy) Reed of McCormick, S.C.; one granddaughter, Tori (Blake) Garrett of San Francisco, Calif.; and one sister, Betty (Ted) Zieman of Naples, Fla.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ada; a brother, Fred Reed, Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Hartley and Frances Boyd.
