John Henry Heyden, age 90, of Davenport, Iowa, died on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Bentley Funeral Home in Du-rant. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at the funeral home. John was born on Jan. 19, 1933, the son of Henry and Laura (Sindt) Heyden. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Janet Barton on July 27, 1957, in Muscatine. Janet died on Oct. 4, 2019.
John was a maintenance mechanic for Oscar Meyer for many years, retiring in 1998. He also owned and operated Mississippi Marine Sales in Muscatine from 1967-1978. John was a mem-ber of the Durant American Legion, Post #430. He enjoyed boating and playing cards, especially Cribbage with friends and family. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family and friends.
John will be dearly missed by his two children, Jennifer Sawyer and Wayne (Ruby) Blieu, both of Muscatine; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Larry (Betty) Heyden of Seattle, Washington.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Laura; his wife, Janet; two sisters, Lau-retta Giese and Janice Goldermann.
