Obituary: William Hamilton

A funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial for William L. “Bill” Hamilton, 76, of LeClaire, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, LeClaire. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 23 (today), from 4-6 p.m. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the church.

Mr. Hamilton died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

William Hamilton was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Modena, Mo., the son of William and Shirley (Bain) Hamilton. He graduated from Bettendorf High School.

He married Betty LaFayette on Jan. 26, 1963, in Bettendorf.

He retired from Alcoa in 2002 after 40 years of service.

His hobbies were fishing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Stacey Hamilton, Bettendorf; his sons, Bill (Elizabeth) Hamilton, Kansas City, Mo., and Brad (Leslie) Hamilton, Davenport; his grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, Elisa, Ashlei, Jerzey, Grace, and Joon; his sisters, Roberta Jarvis and Norma (Bo) Wooten, all of Columbus, Miss., and Becky (John) Creek, Lebanon, Tenn.; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barb and Steve Menke, Doug and Cathy LaFayette, Cindy Harrison, and Randy and Vicki LaFayette.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, the Riverbend Food Bank, or Café on Vine.
