Obituary: Samuel Havenhill

A funeral service for Samuel W. Havenhill, 87, of Princeton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 (today), at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Princeton. Visitation was Tuesday, May 14, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Havenhill died Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Samuel Havenhill was born July 12, 1931, in Wapello, the son of Samuel and Beulah (Marlette) Havenhill.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He married Lois Shaw on June 17, 1955, in LeClaire. She died Oct. 23, 2011.

He worked at Alcoa for 35 years, mainly in the thermal department, and retiring as a trucker.

His hobbies were bowling, watching baseball, and having coffee with friends.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Shelia) Havenhill, Davenport; his grandchildren, Ambur (Amber), Ashley, Justin, Timmy, and Shyanne; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roger (Beverly) Havenhill, LeClaire.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy, and a brother, Ron Keith Havenhill.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
