Obituary: Phyllis Gooch-Dengler

A funeral service for Phyllis Gooch-Dengler, 96, of Davenport, was held at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Silvis United Methodist Church, Silvis, Ill. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial was in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. The Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Gooch-Dengler died Monday, May 6, 2019, at home.

She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Browning, Mo.

She married James Walter Gooch in Purdin, Mo. He died in 1973. She later married Walter Dengler on Jan. 11, 2002.

She previously worked at International Harvester in East Moline and Farmall Works in Rock Island.

She enjoyed dancing with Walter at the Col Ballroom.

Survivors include her husband, Walter; her children, Stephen (Patty) Gooch, Bruce (Crystal) Gooch, and Gary (Debra) Gooch; numerous grandchildren; Walter’s children, Wayne (Nancy) Dengler, Allan Dengler, Sharon (Vic) Bianchette, Cheryl (Dan) DiFonzo, and Janis (Mark) Lund; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Marco.
