Obituary: Kerry Geurink

A service celebrating the life of Kerry D. Geurink, 63, of Davenport, was held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was Friday, Nov. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mr. Geurink died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.    

Kerry Geurink was born Sept. 23, 1955, in Davenport, the son of Donald and Patricia (Nine) Geurink. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1974, and received a bachelor of business administration degree from The University of Iowa.

He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring after 27 years.

He played sports in high school, and played baseball at The University of Iowa, where he was also a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He continued participating in sports by coaching his son from T-ball to high school baseball, and in the Rising Knights football program. He also participated in local softball leagues for many years.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing with his son and friends, watching sports, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include a son, Mitchell Geurink; his father, Donald (Cindy) Geurink; his siblings, Brian (Robin) Geurink, Pam (Kent) Feuerbach, and Todd Geurink; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
