Obituary: Cletus Loeffelholz

Cletus C. Loeffelholz, 84, a resident of Park View, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Unity Point Trinity Bettendorf.

Visitation was from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the church.  Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10 (today), at St. Ann’s Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1940, in Grant County, Wis., the son of Raymond and Germaine (Weiderholt) Loeffelholz.  On Oct. 1, 1963, he was united in marriage to Celine Ambrosy at St. Donatus Catholic Church in St. Donatus.

Cletus was employed as an assembler for John Deere Davenport Works, retiring after 33 years of faithful service.  In earlier years, he worked for the Celotex Corporation in Dubuque, and had also farmed in Wisconsin.

He loved to “tinker” in the garage and took great pride in caring for his yard.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Celine; his children, Daniel Loeffelholz (Kimberly Willenbring) of South St. Paul, Minn., Sandra Franklin of Peoria, Ill., Susan (Mark) Lorenzen of Davenport, Roger (Kristine) Loeffelholz of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Keith (Abby) Loeffelholz of Evansdale; his grandchildren, Michael (Megan) Long, Quinton (Megan) Franklin, Emma Loeffelholz, Ellie Loeffelholz, Erin Kelley, Liberty Kelley, Miranda Severson-Kelley, Derek (Melissa) Lorenzen, Tara Lorenzen, Craig Lorenzen, Nathan Lorenzen; his great-grandchildren, Robyn Long, Kennedi Long, Kora Marquez, Silas Lorenzen and Zoey Lorenzen; his sisters, Serena (Melvin) Manders of Bellevue, Wilma Hilby of East Dubuque, Ill., and Mary Jane (Jim) Glasker of Scales Mound, Ill.; and his brothers, Bernard Loeffelholz of Kieler, Wis., James (Doris) Loeffelholz of East Dubuque and Isidore (Janet) Loeffelholz of Caledonia, Minn.; his sister-in-law, Janann Ambrosy of Sherrill; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Doris Ambrosy of Dubuque; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vernon and Rose Marie Ambrosy of Otter Creek; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Verla and Virgil Weimerskirch of LaMotte.

Cletus was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Loeffelholz; his brothers-in-law, Richard Hilby and Lelan Ambrosy; his parents-in-law, Ervin and Marcella Ambrosy; and his parents, Raymond and Germaine Loeffelholz.
