Obituary: Anne Suiter Cherowitzo

Amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Anne passed peacefully April 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Anne was born in Davenport and raised on the Mississippi River. It was there that Anne learned to love nature and animals of all kinds. She loved boating, water skiing, canoeing, her ponies, Half-Pint and Nugget, and an assortment of ducks, sheep, cats and dogs. As an adult, she moved to the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado and raised her family in Boulder and Louisville. She shared her passion for the mountains with her boys and taught them to love skiing, camping, and hiking. Anne also loved traveling and enjoyed many trips to Australia and Europe with her husband, Bill. She and Bill also enjoyed art of all kinds and live theater. Anne believed in the importance of education and devoted her career to teaching English and library science for the Adams 12 School District in the Denver area. Anne attended Stephens College and the University of Iowa, where she received her B.A. in English, and the University of Colorado, where she earned her masters of library science. She was very much involved in P.E.O., a philanthropic education organization, and served as president and several other positions during her 50+ year membership. Anne is survived by her husband, Bill, sons and spouses Pete (Jill) Ditmon, Thomas (Teresa) Ditmon of Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren Alister Ditmon, Lukas Ditmon and Benjamin Ditmon; brother Stephen (Ann) Suiter of Naples, Fla.; sisters Jane (David) Lakeman of LeClaire, Sarah Danaher and her fiancé Drew Gesell of Longmont, Colo.; her nephews and nieces, Philip (Rebecca) Suiter, Zach Suiter and Scott Suiter, Patrick Danaher and Matthew (Susannah Howard Spink) Danaher, Gregory (Montell) Gahard and Grant (Avery) Gahard; great-nieces, Emilia and Eleanor Suiter. Anne was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Suiter; father, Glen H. Suiter; stepmother Jean Daut Suiter; aunt Lois Suiter O’Malley; uncle William J. O’Malley; and brother-in-law John “Jake” Danaher. Anne was laid to rest at Louisville Cemetery Friday, April 26, at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life followed at Hyland Hills Senior Living at 12:30 p.m. at 9560 Sheridan Blvd., Westminster, CO 80031.
