Obituary: Albert Morris

A graveside funeral service for Albert W. Morris, 88, of Muscatine, was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, in the Durant Cemetery. Visitation was Friday from 9-10:45 a.m. at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.

Mr. Morris died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Unity Point Health – St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Albert Morris was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Albert and Etta (Phillips) Morris. He graduated from Seymour (Iowa) High School.

He married Marian Bernauer on Sept. 28, 1951, in Davenport. She died Aug. 8, 2005.

He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 1989. He also farmed in Muscatine County and drove semi for various companies.

His hobbies were fishing, raising goats, and traveling.

Survivors include his daughters, Vickie (Roger) Clark, Muscatine, Shirley (David) Dierickx, Fulton, Texas, and Cindy (Keith) Plett, Blue Grass; his sons, Albert Morris, Muscatine, Charles (Patty) Morris of South Dakota, and Richard Morris, Nichols; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Morris, Tipton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Morris; a sister, Elizabeth Fiers; and his brothers, Robert, Delbert, and Donald Morris.
