Obituary: Brian Zindel

Brian Lee Zindel, age 81, of Walcott, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. - 12 noon, Monday, July 15, at Calvary Church of Walcott.  A service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, July 15, at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Walcott Fire Department or Calvary Church of Walcott in his memory.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Brian was born on May 20, 1943, the son of Ralph and Irene (Rock) Zindel, in Davenport.  He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1961.  Brian proudly served his country for six years in the Iowa National Guard.

Brian farmed his entire life in rural Walcott, where he milked cows and raised stock cows, retiring in 2005.  He enjoyed sports, especially the L.A. Dodgers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Brian also enjoyed helping his family with farming activities during the spring and fall.  He was a member of the Scott County Farm Bureau and Calvary Church of Walcott.  Most of all, Brian loved visiting with family and friends.  

Brian will be dearly missed by his brother, Bruce (Kate) Zindel of Blue Grass; two nephews, Brett (Sarah) Zindel of Durant, and Corey (Jennifer) Zindel of Johnston; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents.
