Robert Cox Sr., 91, of Riverton, Wyo., formerly of Davenport, Iowa, died on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023.
A Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at the Runge Mortuary in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made in his name to the QC Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. Condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.
Robert was born in Davenport, Iowa on Nov. 6, 1932, the son of Perry and Iretta (Stout) Cox. He obtained his GED certificate and graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1973.
Bob served on the Scott County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy, was Chief of Police in Blue Grass, Iowa and then Chief of Police in Wilton, from where he retired from in 1994.
Bob enjoyed woodworking, had a knack for being able to fix anything, and spending time with his grandkids often taking them on site seeing road trips.
Those left to honor him are his children, Timothy (Jane) Drewelow of Fairfax, IA, Sue (Drewelow) Maddelein of Riverton, WY, Kathy (David) Riley of Moline, IL, Lisa (Michael) Huff of Davenport, IA, Michelle (Terry) Mendoza of Davenport, IA, and Robert G. (Kim) Cox, Jr. of Williamsburg, IA; 19 grandkids; 27 great-grandkids, and 9 great-great-grandkids.
He was predeceased by a grandson Lloyd, his brother Ken, and his parents.
