Obituary: LaMoine Boisen

LaMoine Lawrence Boisen, age 76, of Durant, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at his home.  Cremation Rites have been accorded.  A memorial gathering will be held from 5–7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.  Private family burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

LaMoine was born on Aug. 18, 1949, the son of Virgil and Phyllis (Earp) Boisen in Davenport.  He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1967. After graduation, Lamoine proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  While enlisted, LaMoine served with the Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), earning the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

LaMoine will be remembered as a man who valued simple pleasures, strong traditions, and the people he loved most. He found great joy in spending time outdoors, especially when fishing or tending the grill for a good barbecue.  He was an avid reader with a particular passion for learning about Corvettes. LaMoine also treas-ured family holidays, which brought everyone together and created many cherished memories. He was also a member of the Durant American Legion, Post #430. Above all, LaMoine was deeply proud of his military service. Serving his country was one of the accomplishments he held closest to his heart, and it reflected the dedication, strength, and sense of duty that defined his life.

LaMoine will be missed by three children, Stephanie (Todd) Stammer, Daniel Boisen, Belvyn (Sheryl) Boquiren, all of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Boisen of Durant; and two sisters, Laura Sue (Debra) Boisen of St. Paul, Minn., and Marie (Mark) Germundson of Armada Township, Mich.

LaMoine was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Phyllis.
