Frank James Novak, age 89, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Private family burial will take place in Durant Cemetery, Durant. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Frank was born on Jan. 18, 1937, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Novak (Wittman). Frank graduated from Durant High School and went on to build a long and hardworking career. Frank married Betty Bryant on May 12, 1978, in Davenport. They shared many wonderful years together until Betty passed away on Aug. 29, 2013.
Frank worked at Alcoa in Davenport before becoming a bricklayer with the local bricklayers union. He took great pride in his work and continued in the trade until his retirement. Frank enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and looked forward to time spent enjoying the things he loved. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye football fan and enjoyed watching golf on television. He also loved watching westerns and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Frank will be missed by his son, Tim Novak of Walcott; granddaughter, Ashley (Chris) Bogan of Davenport; and three grandsons, Chase, Chance (Jada Houtekier) and Chaz Novak.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; two brothers, Richard Novak and Ron Bierkamp; and two sisters, Shirley Willis and Pat Munn.
