Clyde David Wacker, age 81, of Durant, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, at his home. A private family memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilton. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Clyde was born on May 5, 1942, the son of Herman and Norma (Kossman) Wacker in Shelbyville, Ill. He graduated from Muscatine High School. After graduation, Clyde proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Clyde married Betty Bohm on June 22, 1968, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll.
Clyde was an independent insurance agent in Durant for many years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir. He also served as a former Scout leader in Durant and was a member of the Durant American Legion and a former Jaycee. Most of all, Clyde loved spending time with his family and friends.
Clyde will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty; two sons, Charls (Laura) Wacker of Neosho, Mo., and Chris (Jamie) Wacker of Durant; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Petersen.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Norma Wacker; one brother-in-law, Merlin Petersen; and one sister, Lois (John) White.
