Loraine Skipton
Loraine Frances Skipton, age 92, of Wilton, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Wilton Retirement Community. A funeral service was held at 12 noon, Tuesday, June 18, at Grace United Church of Christ, Wilton. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Memorials may be made to Grace United Church of Christ in Wilton. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Loraine was born on June 29, 1931, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Wilheme) Jarr in Moscow. She married Ernest Skipton on April 6, 1948, in Muscatine. Ernest passed away on Jan. 1, 2005.
Loraine worked for CDS in Wilton for eleven years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Wilton. In her spare time, Loraine enjoyed sewing, camping and loved spending time with her family.
Loraine will be dearly missed by her daughters, Velva Mucha of Wapello, and Christine (Frank) Lascelles of Wilton; sons, Howard (Margie) Skipton of the Philippines and Dan (Cindy) Skipton of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Wagg of Muscatine.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; one son, Gary; a grandson, Matt Skipton; son-in-law, John Mucha; brother-in-law, Charlie Wagg; and seven other brothers and sisters.
