A little over 35 years ago, Jeff Kaufmann taught his first U.S. History 1 class. Last Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the exact same building where he started, Kaufmann taught his final U.S. History 1 class in what he called a true “circle of life moment.” more

Last week’s Shop With a Cop festivities concluded with Durant’s Shop With a Cop. Participating kids were accompanied by Durant police officers, as well as some of the officers’ family members and even a few county sheriffs as they shopped for the perfect gifts.  more
Two groups of Wilton students were invited to Shop With a Cop this year, with the younger kids going Thursday evening just before the snow fell, and the older kids going Friday morning. Each group got to find their perfect presents before then enjoying a delicious pizza meal. more
On Monday, Dec. 8, City Administrator Jeff Horne informed the council that Boomerang laid off most of its staff for the winter after the first large snowfall at the end of November. The restart for the project is April 1st of next year. more

Since being crowned Muscatine County Fair Queen 2025, one of the things Kaylynn Huot has wanted to do most during her reign is to help girls across the county see what it’s like to be in the County Queen pageant. Next month, she’ll finally be accomplishing her goal. more

On Saturday, December 6, volunteers of all ages helped pack boxes of food at the West Liberty Food Pantry. In only about an hour, 225 food boxes were packed, ready for patrons of the pantry to pick them up. more
