Veterans' Day, Brisket Bash and Rodney Atkins light up Tipton

The Cedar County Fair runs from Wednesday, July 10 – Sunday, July 14, at the county fairgrounds, located at 1195 210th Street, Tipton. On opening day of the fair, veterans and active-duty military personnel will receive free admission with valid ID. Friday will be daycare free gate from 9 a.m. – noon, and senior centers free gate from noon-3 p.m. Sunday is Family Day Free Gate, sponsored by the Cedar County Farm Bureau.

A veteransday ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, and Fair royalty will be crowned at 5 p.m.

On Thursday, the Tipton FFA and alumni pie auction will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by meet a cowboy/cowgirl at 6 p.m.

The Cedar County Cattlemen’s Brisket Bash will be Friday from 5-6:30 p.m., with a truck and tractor pullers meet and greet from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

The Bill Riley Talent Show will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., and a chainsaw carving auction will be at 5 p.m.

Livestock shows

Wednesday – 4-H/FFA horse show 9 a.m., 4-H/FFA Livestock Skill-a-Thon and livestock judging 12:30-4 p.m., 4-H/FFA Poultry Show 5 p.m., egg show to follow;

Thursday – 4-H/FFA swine showmanship 8:30 a.m. with Bacon Buddies to follow, 4-H/FFA sheep show at noon with meat goat show to follow, open lamb show 6:30 p.m.;

Friday – 4-FFA cow/calf show 8:30 a.m. with heifer show to follow, draft horse show at noon, 4-H/FFA pet show 1 p.m., 4-H/FFA bucket bottle calf 2 p.m. with “Pre 4-H” bucket bottle show to follow;

Saturday – 4-H/FFA rabbit show 8 a.m., 4-H /FFA market beef show 8:30 a.m. with live auction to follow, 4-H/FFA all-species ribbon auction 1 p.m., with auction buyer’s celebration at 4 p.m.;

Sunday – 4-H/FFA supreme showmanship show 9 a.m., open horse show 9 a.m., 4-H/FFA carcass contest noon.

Grandstand entertainment

Wednesday – sprint car races at 7 p.m.;

Thursday – rodeo slack judging at 3 p.m., Rogue Rodeo at 7 p.m., concert by Big John Hammer and the Rusty Nails on the Family Foods Stage in the Custom Builder’s Pavilion at 9 p.m.;

Friday – ECIPA Truck & Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m., concert by Flatbed Four on the Family Foods Stage in the Custom Builder’s Pavilion at 9:30 p.m.;

Saturday – concert by Rodney Atkins and Easton Corbin at 7 p.m., followed by Stumptown on the Family Foods Stage in the Custom Builder’s Pavilion;

Sunday – Tuff Trucks at 2 p.m.

Daily activities

Carve R Way chainsaw artists, the Brunon Blaszak Royal Bengal Tigers Show, Ms. Amy’s Face Painting, Bingo 4-H demonstrations and much more.

The carnival will be open from 5-10 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. There will be two sessions on Saturday, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. Separate wristbands are required for each session. On Sunday, the carnival will run from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Fair season passes are $30 for adults and $15 for senior citizens and children ages 6-16. Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children before 5 p.m., and $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children after 5 p.m. Children under 6 free.
