Beavers fourth in Class 2A—The Wilton softball team finished the Class 2A state softball tournament in fourth place last week. The Beavers went 1-2 in action at Fort Dodge July 19-22. Wilton lost 9-6 in the 2A semifinals to Earlham, before losing 12-1 to Central Springs in the third place game. See pages 9-13 for state coverage. The fourth place finish was the highest softball finish in school history. Wilton finished the season ranked No. 1, and was the top seed in the state tournament.
