Warren Lavery “Mac” McConahay, 90, died peacefully at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction surrounded by family. He was born July 4, 1934, and passed Feb. 5, 2025. The son of William Harrison McConahay and Opal Alice (Lavery) McConahay.
Warren graduated from Columbus Community High School, Class of 1-952. He served in the U.S. Army and the 872 Maintenance Company in the Army Reserve. He worked for the Iowa State Highway Department (DOT) until his retirement. He also farmed, promoted the local races, was a member of the American Legion Post 100 in Columbus Jct.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Kay Lenker, whom he married in 1956. They were married for 63 years.
Surviving are his sons, Bret and Kathy (Langan) McConahay, Kip and Karen (Trullinger) McConahay; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held April 19, graveside at 1 p.m. and celebration of life 1-5 p.m. at the American Legion.
