Stephen W. Johannsen, age 74, of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025. Cremation rites will be accorded, and no services are scheduled at this time. Private family burial will take place in Durant Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.
Stephen was born on July 16, 1950, the son of William and Mary Ann (Noe) Johannsen in Davenport. He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1968. Steve worked as a machinist for Threaded Products in Eldridge for many years before retiring.
Steve was a homebody at heart, cherishing the quiet moments spent in his home. He did have a love for adventure and the open road, owning a Corvette, a motorcycle, and a recumbent bicycle that reflected his enjoyment of exploration and speed. A devoted dog lover, Steve adored his German Shepherds, Joey and Kramer, who were his faithful companions. Steve had a passion for target shooting and reloading, excelling in competitions where his skill earned him several awards. He also enjoyed reading books on his Kindle and was an avid movie lover with a particular fondness for adventure, fantasy, and Disney classics.
Steve will be dearly missed by two sisters, Luanne (Mike) Manno of West Des Moines, and Annette Richardson of Durant; one brother, James Johannsen of Davenport; a nephew, Justin (Anna) Richardson; a niece, Brianna Richardson; and great nephew and niece, William and Jocelynn Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Ann.
