Obituary: Robert Chapman

Robert “Bob” Chapman, 80, of Wilton, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home.  Visitation was from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Graveside services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 26 (today), at Greenwood Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for the family in Bob’s name.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservices.com.

Robert Chapman was born on Feb. 18, 1945, in Muscatine, the son of Albert and Charlotte Chapman.  Bob was raised by his father and his stepmother, Betty Chapman.  He was a 1963 graduate of L-M High School.  On Aug. 6, 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Linda Rickey.  Bob was a self-employed truck driver for many years; he later began driving for Decker, where he retired from after 53 years of driving truck.  Bob enjoyed mowing his yard, attending the Iowa State Fair, gardening especially growing potatoes, sweet potatoes and carrots; as well as spending time with his dogs and his grandchildren.

Bob will be deeply missed by his children, Samantha Dennison of Arkansas, Michelle (Scott) Freitag of Wilton and TerriSue Hughes of Wilton; grandchildren, Chris, Damen, Kourtanie, Connor, Natalie, Tyrrell and Sydnie; great-grandchildren, Stacie, Holley, Clyde, Emma, Gunnar, Isabellalynn, Raelynn and one on the way; siblings, Donny (Linda) Chapman of Muscatine and Cheryl Townsley of Council Bluffs; and several nieces and nephews. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, his wife, Linda, on Feb. 5, 2018, and siblings, Janice Walker and Davey Chapman.
