Obituary: Kenneth Klahn

Kenneth Ralph “Kenny” Klahn, age 80, of Port Byron, Illinois, formerly of Durant, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Cremation Rites will be accorded.  A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant.  Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Kenneth was born on January 19, 1942, the son of Ralph and Bernice (Christiansen) Klahn.  He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1959.  Kenny married Mary Lou Fells on November 30, 1963.  He later married Melinda “Cindy” Davis on July 17, 2004 in Joslin, Ill.

Kenny was an Electrician, beginning as an apprentice for Trede Electric in Durant.  He also worked for Golden Electric and Koehler Electric in Davenport.  After retiring from Koehler Electric, Kenny worked as a Hard Lines Department Head for Farm & Fleet in Moline, Illinois, until just recently.  He enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing, racing stock cars and riding his Harley Motorcycle.  Kenny also enjoyed tending to his yard and ending the day with a Jack and Coke.   Most of all, Kenny loved spending time with family, especially attending his granddaughter’s softball games.

Kenny will be dearly missed by his wife, Cindy; two daughters, Tina (Jon) Snowbarger of Durant and Tracy (Chip) Blankenburg of Davenport; two step-daughters, Mindy King and Dixie (Brian) Weiscamp, both of Aledo, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, Mackenzie (Justin) Alden, Kyle Brock and Ashlea, Zack, Macey, Mackenzie, Mason, Gavin, Kellan, Talon, Lily and Ty; five great grandchildren; and his mother in law, Linda Cantu of East Moline.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; and his father in law, Jerry “Tiny” Sturms.
