Evelyn E. Kleppe, age 96, of Walcott, formerly of Bennett, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Courtyard Estates of Walcott. A funeral service was held Saturday, April 24, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Inland Cemetery, Bennett.

Evelyn was born on Feb. 10, 1925, the daughter of William and Frieda (Wulf) Syring. She married Hubert “Pete” Kleppe on Nov. 24, 1942. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1989. Evelyn and Pete farmed in rural Lowden and Bennett until retiring.
She was a member of Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, and enjoyed creating crafts. Evelyn was a kind and caring individual, who treasured spending time with her family.
Evelyn is survived and lovingly remembered by her children; Dennis (Sally Cobren) Kleppe, Sr. of Decatur, Illinois, Karen (Merle) Meinert of Durant and Patricia Griebel of Davenport; seven grandchildren, DiAnn Kleppe, Stacy (Tiffiny) Meinert, Scott (Jaclyn) Meinert, Lynn (Tim) Wulf, Tara (Korey) Griebel-Rigg, Lucas (Darcie Neofotist-Kenyon) Griebel and Chelsea Griebel; 13 great-grandchildren, Trey and Tyler Kleppe, Danyel (Brandon) Koele, Michelle (Adam Hein) Meinert, Denver (McKenna O’Leary) Meinert, Jacob and Hannah Wulf, Spencer, Savannah and Finnley Meinert, Zildjian Rock, Sabian (Brian Wittenauer) Rock and Easton (Kinsey Hicks) Rock; two great-great-grandchildren; Jaxson and Keaton Koele; two sisters, Charlotte Seligman and Ellene Rendmeister; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pete; brother, Raldo; sister, Kay Lynch; two grandsons, Dennis Kleppe, Jr. and Chad Griebel; one great-grandson, Travis Kleppe; and one daughter-in-law, Karen Kleppe.
