Betty J. Finck, 90, of Durant died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at Genesis Health System-East Campus, Davenport. A private memorial service will be held and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Durant Cemetery.

Betty Jane Finck was born March 28, 1930 to Hugo (Hooks) and Marie (Fahrenkrog) Eickhoff in rural Scott County. Betty graduated from Davenport High in 1948, and graduated from St Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Betty worked in surgery and central supply until 1954.

She married Gordon D Martz on Jan. 30, 1954. Betty worked in the homes of different families, including Dr. G. A. Whetstine in Wilton for 10 years.

Betty enjoyed square dancing and bowling, including bowling a 300 game. She was a member of GAG 500 Club, Country Gardeners, and Tri-County Investors. She volunteered for many years as a parish nurse at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

The joy of her life was her daughter Cheryl Mae Martz, born June 19, 1968. Cheryl died Feb. 27, 1981 in a motel fire in Des Moines.

Betty later married Richard E Finck on Oct. 19, 1981. Together they enjoyed traveling with Marge and Al Kahl, including three trips to Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Nova Scotia.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter; brother John (Jack) Eickhoff; and sister Helen C. Eickhoff.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
