James was born on Dec. 18, 1951, the son of Harry and Eleanor (Rottman) Reimers in Davenport.  He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1970.  Jim married Deanna Telsrow on July 1, 1972, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant.

Jim’s working years were spent as a skilled machinist. He was employed at Caterpillar in Mt. He was a member of the Durant Jaycees and a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant. Jim loved camping, fishing, gardening, playing horseshoes, bowling, and coaching youth baseball in Davenport.  With his friendly smile, quick wit, and love for a good joke, he was known as the life of the party and the kind of person who’d give you the shirt off his back.  His grandkids were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Deanna; a daughter, JoDee (Ally) Malone of Rock Island, a son, Jeffrey Reimers of Davenport; six grandchildren, Jeremy Elliott-Malone, Aliza (Trevor Pickett) Malone, Presley (Jerod Samuelson) Reimers, Toni Reimers, Harmony and Melody Reimers; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Jace, Jasmine, and Leo James; one brother, Richard Reimers of Iowa City; two sisters, Donna Peters and Kay King, both of Durant.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jesse; three sisters, Juanita Smith, Shirley Bland and Janet Baker; and three brothers-in-law, Al Peters, David King and Clem Baker.
