Nov. 5, 2024 American Legion Post 584, Wilton, IA
Commander Jean Ahlrichs called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. There were nine members and one guest present. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Bill Jennings posted the POW/MIA flag. Kevin Wright offered a Prayer. Tom Taylor gave the finance report. A motion passed to accept the finance report. The October meeting notes were read and approved. The rib dinner went well with about 150 meals being served. Thanks to our members, the Auxiliary, and the Boy Scouts for helping with the event. Joe Laden from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Vet Center in East Moline gave a presentation about the free counseling and outreach services available (309-755-3260, www.vetcenter.va.gov); he also left several brochures and business cards at the hall. Jean reported that the Halloween Trunk or Treat event in Wilton went well with lots of goodies given out to the kids. We will order a Space Force flag to hang with the other branch of service flags in the Legion Hall. Bill Jennings volunteered to lead the Boys State committee. The next veterans fellowship event at the hall will be Nov. 16 from 4-6 p.m.; Tom Taylor plans to fry some fish. Please contact Tom if you can help out.
