While the military is trained to act in defense for our country, police officers are trained to act in defense of others and the law. While those in the military stand as soldiers of freedom, police officers stand as soldiers of the constitution of their individual states. Both took an oath of office; both defend our basic democratic freedoms that we enjoy today: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
