Obituary: Ruby Claussen

Ruby Jean (Goodell) Claussen, 85, of Eldridge, passed away on April 4, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 11, at the Walcott American Legion from 4-7 p.m., following a private burial at Davenport Memorial Park.

Ruby was born on Nov. 29, 1939, in Clinton County. She was raised by Herman and Florence Frahm. Ruby was united in marriage to LeRoy Claussen in July of 1959 and together they farmed for many years near Eldridge.  She worked various jobs over the years and especially enjoyed working alongside her husband. Together they did auctions with GMB Auctioneering until 2014.

Ruby enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone who came through the door. She loved visiting with friends and family, you always left her house full.

She was a member of the Larry M. Gronewold Post 532 Women’s Auxiliary since 1989.

Those left to honor include her three daughters; Bev (Larry) Geurink, Peggy (Doug) Dietz and Jody (Chris) Coffman, grandchildren; Nathan (Melissa) Geurink, Kayelyn (Beau) Blake, Evan Dietz, Grace and Delaney Coffman; great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Logan, Landon, Wyatt and Tucker, sister Cynthia DeKeukeleire, sister-in-law Marilyn Carrico, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband LeRoy Claussen, son Larry, parents, brothers, and sisters.
