Obituary: Rosemary Mess

Rosemary “Rosie” Mess, 80, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025. 

Visitation is Friday, June 6, at Cornerstone Church, Eldridge, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Funeral service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., luncheon from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and graveside services will be held at Glendale Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Rosie was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Davenport. While a teenager, she was a contestant for the Queen of LeClaire’s Riveresta Court. She worked in the cafeteria at Alcoa and then moved on to Bishop’s before she starting her career working for the North Scott School District. She drove school bus, was the transportation secretary and then finished her career as custodian at Neil Armstrong after 32 years.

She married Ron Mess on May 9, 1968, and lived on the river in Princeton.  She enjoyed fishing and duck hunting with her husband and sons, David and Bob.  She enjoyed her puzzles, collecting Elvis items, diamond art, quartermania with her friends and “trying” to play cards.  She loved spending time with her granddaughters, Abby and Taylor. She was “Mom” to so many other people and she loved to make everyone happy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron and son David.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center Veterans Program, Milan, Illinois or Bettendorf American Legion Auxiliary Post 154.
