Obituary: Rosemary Eklund

A funeral service for Rosemary Claire Eklund, 87, of Davenport, was held at noon on Monday, Feb. 17, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 16, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mrs. Eklund died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society.

Rosemary Lukavsky was born Aug. 15, 1932, the daughter of Elmer and Cecilia Lukavsky. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Davenport High School.

She married Raymond Eklund on June 14, 1952, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He died in 1986.

She helped out at the family store, Eklund’s Little Super, later Eklund’s Market.

Her hobbies were spending time with family, bowling, and playing bingo.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Group, Daughters of Isabella, and was active in the Iowa Grocer’s Retail Association.

Survivors include her children, Steve (Jenny), Gary, Suzanne, and Nancy (Angela); and her grandchildren, Emma Eichman, Caleb DeLeeuw, Francesca Eklund, Rachel (Hunter) McNie, Grant Eklund, Jason Eklund, Analicia Eklund, and Tyler Eklund.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura; and her siblings, Marie Meier, Eleanor Gravert, Robert Lukavsky, and Dolores Leming.
