Peggy J. Ragona, 89, of Donahue, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Visitation was from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial was at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, assisted the family with arrangements.
Peggy was born on April 24, 1935, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Angus and Mary (Shoemaker) Munro. On Aug. 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Joe Ragona at St. Mary’s Church in Centerville. She achieved her associate’s degree in music education. Peggy was an accomplished cellist and played with the Quad City Symphony for many years. She devoted her life to her family and to the many students with whom she shared her love of music. Peggy was a long-standing member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Joe Ragona of Donahue; son, Robert “Bob” Ragona of Donahue; grandsons, Brian Weaver, Michael Weaver, and Charles “Chuck” Weaver; several great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Munro; and stepsister, Ann (Realff) Ottesen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruth Munro; and her daughter, Kristin Weaver.
