Pamela Ann Madden was born on Sept. 8, 1948, in Davenport, a daughter to Roy and Elaine (Friederichs) Madden.  She was united in marriage to Gerald “Gerry” Murphy on Aug. 1, 1970, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove.  They have shared over 50 years of marriage and memories together.

Pam was a radiology tech and coder at the Radiology Group in Davenport for many years, retiring in 2010.  She also farmed alongside Gerry for 45 years on her family’s century farm that she grew up on in the Dixon area.

Pam had a great sense of humor. She was always patient and calm and known for her candid, no-nonsense conversations.  She cherished her family, especially when they all were together. She particularly adored attending events for her grandchildren. In her free time, Pam enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, gatherings with her girlfriends, and going to the West Family YMCA. Pam will be remembered for her smile, quick wit, and the fierce love she shared with her family and friends.

Selfless to the very end, Pam requested that her brain be donated to the research of PML (progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy).

Survivors include her husband, Gerry, Davenport, children and their spouses: Derek (Cindy) Murphy, LeClaire, Troy (Natalie) Murphy, Long Grove, Tenley (Gregg) Damrow, Peoria, Ill., and Alissa (Aaron) Kunert, Orion, Ill.; grandchildren: Kylie, Kelsey, Ashley, Ty, Kamden, Teegan, Lainey, Kellen, Lyla, Kane, and Payton; great-grandchildren: Josie and Aiden; a sister, Pat Ketz, Alaska/Arizona, a brother, Ronald (Pamela) Madden, Bettendorf/Florida; mother-in-law, Celeste Murphy, Long Grove, and the entire extended Murphy clan.
