Obituary: Mary Hoff

A funeral service for Mary Louise Hoff, 95, of Davenport, was held at noon on Monday, Sept. 16, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Monday at the mortuary. Burial was in Rock Island Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hoff died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Mary Parkinson was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Aledo, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Esther Parkinson.

She married Charles Hoff on April 25, 1943. He preceded her in death.

She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal until her retirement in the early 1980s.

She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport.

Her hobbies were traveling, spending time with her family, and playing cards.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurie (Joe) Dobesh, Davenport; a son, Rick Hoff (Teresa Lybarger), Golden, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Cora Hoff, Big Lake, Alaska; her grandchildren, Amy Hoff, Brett Dobesh, Ann Dobesh, Erik Trom, Kelsa Trom, Olivia Hoff, and Daniel Hoff; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristin; a son, Stephen; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
