Obituary: Marlene Wilson

Marlene J. Wilson, 81, of Davenport, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.  Visitation was held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory.  The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 (today), in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, or the American Diabetes Association.

Marlene was born May 26, 1940, in Clinton, to Marvin and Mildred (Farber) Dohse.  She graduated from DeWitt High in 1958 and went to work at Davenport Bank until her marriage to Melvin O. Wilson on Dec. 14, 1968, in Davenport. Along with Melvin, they owned/operated the Probstei Inn, Davenport, until retiring in 1990. Melvin preceded Marlene in death on Dec. 24, 2004. Marlene was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, and an avid Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Kevin Blake, grandchildren, Garrett, Sarah, and Sean.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and a brother.
