Obituary: Karen Auliff

Karen J. Auliff, 83, of Wheatland, formerly of LeClaire, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at Wheatland Manor.

A celebration of life was held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Boll’s Community Center, Princeton.  Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Karen was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Davenport, the daughter of Harold and Janet (VanEvera) Wilson.  Following high school, she married Robert H. Auliff in Argo on Aug. 6, 1954.  Karen was a devoted farm wife and mother.  She later worked as a rural postal carrier for 25 years in LeClaire until her retirement in 1998.  She enjoyed gardening and was a talented piano and organ player.  Karen was a homebody, but loved having company and spending time with her family. 

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Pete (Linda) Auliff of Walcott, Peg (Ken) Ferris of Blue Grass, Joe (Cathy) Auliff of DeWitt, Kelly Auliff of Eldridge; 11 grandchildren, Jacob (David), Katrina (Brock), Elizabeth (Nathan), Amy (Brad), Angie, Brad (Kathleen), Jennifer, Julie (Rocky), Matt, Jordan, and Kara (Jesse); 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; brother, Carl Wilson of Council Bluffs; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Ivan) Wilson of Eldridge, Sharon Wilson of Bennett, and Jean Claeys of Delmar.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge, and to Wheatland Manor for the exceptional care and compassion given to Karen during the past few years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, John; brothers, Jim and Dick; daughter-in-law, Julie; and father and mother-in-law, Russel and Eunice Auliff.
