June Mae Claypool, 88, of Donahue, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at the Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport.
June was born Sept. 6, 1934, in DeWitt, the daughter of Hugo and Mary (Curtis) Burmeister and stepfather Charlie Stewart. She was united in marriage to Donald N. Claypool Sr. on Aug. 27, 1956. A loving homemaker, June raised a family of seven children. She enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, knitting, needlepoint, and fishing.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Mary Claypool of Donahue, Kathy Smiley of Davenport, and Sue (George) Lund of Davenport; her sons, Donald Claypool, Jr., of Donahue, Thomas (Amy) Claypool, Sr., of Muscatine, and John Claypool of Stockton; her grandchildren, David Claypool, Christine (Eric) Bunting, Jed Wendell, Thomas (Caty) Claypool, Jr. and Amanda Claypool; five great-grandchildren; her half-sister, Charlotte Stewart; her half-brothers, Donnie Stewart and John Stewart; and her grand-dogs, Max and Baby Girl.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; her daughters, Linda Briggs and Jean Claypool; her son, John Lionel Claypool; and her son-in-law, Bruce Smiley.
June’s family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Davenport Lutheran Home for all of their care and comfort for June and her family.
